Why separate slurry or biogas digestate?

Traditional handling methods of liquid manure or other slurries are often expensive and demand a a lot of valuable time and labour while bearing the risk to violate current and future environmental laws. The separation process not only reduces these factors but also allows a qualitative gain regarding the end products of liquid fraction and separated solids.

The liquids / the liquid fraction

  • can be pumped through pipework with lower diameter
  • can be spread with a normal slurry tanker
  • can also be spread onto the fields by an irrigation system
  • can be stored without the usual building of crust/floating layers and with reduced sedimentation
  • is reduced by up to 25% in volume compared to the untreated raw slurry resulting in a reduced need for storage capacities
  • is suited for use in a slurry flush-system to flood-wash the alleys in a cow barn, the collecting yard or other places
  • enters the soil in a short time when spread onto the fields, without remaining solid parts covering the soil
  • does not stick to leafs or other plant parts when spread out
  • causes a greatly reduced odour emission compared to the untreated raw slurry
  • eignet sich hervorragend zur Weiterbehandlung
  • is perfectly suited for further treatments (e.g. an aerobic treatment)

The separated solids

  • can be stacked (without re-liquidation) due to the solids consistency
  • is suited for composting while reducing the odour emission
  • forms a valuable organic fertilizer to prepare the soil
  • is spread out like dung/solid manure. No changes or modifactions to the default equipment and machines needed
  • forms a valuable humus for market gardens, green houses and also for private use in home gardens. The humus can also be sold (composting is required).
